1. Supernatural‘s Series Finale Will Be Delayed
As reported last week, production has stopped throughout the entertainment industry due to Coronavirus-related lockdowns and many TV shows have been impacted. Therefore, the episode of Supernatural that aired on March 23rd will be its last for the season. But fans need not worry because of the planned episodes will still air at some point. That show had completed filming through the eighteenth episode of its final season with two more still to go. The network has decided that no more new episodes will air this season, and that the final seven, which includes the series finale, will run later this year. Despite the shutdowns, it was never in doubt that The CW would allow the long-running show to complete all of its Season 15 episodes. If the production delays do not last more than one to two months, expect the final seven eps to air at some point in Fall.
2. More The CW Shows Cut Short
The CW has set its schedule for the rest of the year which will see most of its shows end with shortened seasons. Shows like The Flash, Batwoman, Nancy Drew, and Charmed will not have any more episodes this season beyond what have been completed and the network will stagger airings the remaining new eps through May. Legacies aired its sixteenth episode on March 26th and I thought that was all that they planned for the season like last year. But apparently it had more eps in the work that will not be completed. Legends of Tomorrow had addarently completed filming for its fifth season (it has a shorter episode run), so it will air all of its eps this year. The planned episodes for the other shows will be shifted to next year, but that will likely not result in extended seasons. In addition, the network premiere for Stargirl will be moved one week to May 19th where it will take over the Tuesday 8 PM EST timeslot after The Flash has aired its final new episode of the season. To help fill in the schedule over the next couple of months, The CW will rerun the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event starting on April 7th.
3. The Walking Dead Will End Its Current Season with Episode 15
The Walking Dead franchise has been chronicling the aftermath of a worldwide pandemic and now has run into production delays due to a pandemic. The Season 10 finale for the show had not completed filming before the shutdown and it will wrap up its current year with its fifteenth episode. Picked up by Screenrant and not widely reported by the mainstream entertainment media, the show’s Twitter account put up the following post:

In addition to this, the spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond will have its premiere delayed to later this year. That show was supposed to debut immediately after the Season 10 finale on April 12th. But it was also impacted by production delays which will push it to a Summer or Fall start.
4. Star Trek May Be Getting a Crossover Series
From the rumor mill, there could be a multi-series Star Trek crossover on the horizon. According to We Got This Covered, the series will bring together characters from Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Picard, the upcoming Section 31 series, as well as the in-the-works (but not officially announced) Captain Pike series. The story will involve time travel, and it will bring all the characters together to face off against a dangerous foe. Tentatively it will be called Star Trek: Crossover, but that may only be a working title. The inside sources that We Got This Covered usually gets its information from tend to be pretty accurate, so consider the information to be reliable. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
5. Rosario Dawson to Join The Mandalorian as Ahsoka
The second season of The Mandolarian is in the works (though fighting production delays) and a familiar character will be joing the show when it returns. Rosaria Dawson (Luke Cage) has been cast to play Ahsoka, one of the main characters from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. Dawson has been lobbying for the part on social media and now she will be the first actress to portray a live-action Ahsoka. Also joining the show in the coming season is Michael Biehn (The Terminator) who will be playing a bounty hunter from Mando’s past.
THE SCHED: Tales from the Loop Arrives on Prime Video
This coming week sees three sci fi and fantasy shows joining the schedule. On Thursday, Freeform’s supernatural drama Siren returns for its third season at 8 PM EST. Then on Friday, Amazon’s new anthology series Tales from the Loop has its premiere on Prime Video with all episodes available to stream that day. Also on Friday, the third and final season of Hulu’s Future Man will have its debut. That show will release one episode per week.
