The entertainment media has not widely reported this yet, but DC Universe’s animated series Harley Quinn has been renewed for a second season. The announcement was made on the show’s Twitter feed on February 24th, and only a few news sites such as ScreenRant have picked up on the story so far. Following is the Twitter announcement:
Did you hear the f*cking good news? #DCUHARLEYQUINN returns in April with Season 2! pic.twitter.com/79T32jljQl
— Harley Quinn (@DCUHarleyQuinn) February 21, 2020
DCU has not released any viewership numbers for the show, but it has proven popular with fans and critics, currently holding an 86% Fresh Rating and an 85% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. And even though the show only just wrapped up its first year this past week, the second season will be premiering in April. An exact premiere data has not been set yet, but keep an eye open for that.
Harley Quinn follows the titular anti-hero after she breaks off her relationship with the Joker and tries to join the Legion of Doom. Its voice cast includes Kaley Cuoco, Jason Alexander, Diedrich Bader, Lake Bell, and Alan Tudyk.
The current season will be winding down soon and we should expect to hear word on the fate of shows such as USA’s The Purge, ABC’s Emergence, and Syfy’s The Magicians. I’m pretty sure the initial order was for 26 episodes, but I did not expect them to crank em out so quickly.
Sounds likely. Sure seems odd for the second season to be ready that soon if they didn’t plan it in advance.
