What Is It?
The Mandalorian is a new live-action Star Wars series set to run on the new Disney+ streaming service. Following is the official description of the series:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Premiere
The series will premiere on November 12, 2019, the same day that the Disney+ service launches. It will release one episode a week throughout its eight-episode first season.
Status
Disney is all-in on Star Wars and this will be the first live-action television series in the franchise. Expect the series to draw plenty of subscribers to the streaming service and expect it also to stick around for at least a few years.
