Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.
Two more fall shows have their debuts this week and one more Summer entry will be exiting the schedule. On Wednesday, FX’s American Horror Story returns for its ninth season–subtitled 1984–as it heads to Summer camp for its unique take on the slasher genre (see trailer below). Then on Friday, Netflix’s animated fantasy Disenchantment returns for the second part of its first season with all episodes available for streaming that day. On Friday, Syfy’s Killjoys wraps up its five-season run with its series finale. More Fall shows are on the way with things really kicking into gear the next few weeks, and you can see the full schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows at this link.
Note: Pandora was previously listed as having its season finale this week, but that one still has a few more weeks to go. The Outpost was listed as having its season finale last week, but it is still airing and will wrap up next week.

Also currently airing is Australian series Glitch. It’s in its 3rd season on ABC (the Aussie one not the US one) with seasons 1+2 available on Netflix internationally (season 3 due soon).
“James Hayes (Patrick Brammall) is a small town policeman in Yoorana, Victoria. He is called to the local cemetery in the middle of the night after seven people have risen from the dead in perfect health but with no memory of their identities. The seven people are all linked in some way, and with the help of local doctor Elishia McKellar (Genevieve O’Reilly) the search begins for the truth about how and why they have returned.”
Because it started as a Australian only broadcast it flew under the radar of most people but now it’s available on Netflix it’s finding a wider audience – it deserves to, it really is rather good (80% Rotten Tomatoes rating) and is much more Sci-Fi than the synopsis makes it sound once it gets going.
