Two renewal announcements came for the DC Universe shows this past weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con with Doom Patrol getting its official second season nod and Young Justice scheduled to come back for a fourth season. The former series had been rumored to have been renewed since before its first season debut, but there had been no official announcement. As the future of the DC Universe streaming service started to look doubtful with Warner’s mega-service HBO Max in the works, the renewal for Doom Patrol looked less certain. But now that show has been given the greenlight for a second season which will bow in 2020. The first season will also be made available on HBO Max when it launches in Spring 2020. As for Young Justice, its renewal seemed like a good bet as long as the DC Universe service remained intact because the revival of the previously cancelled show has remained popular. The long-term prospect for DCU still seem somewhat unclear, but it should stick around for at least another year with a second season of Titans also on the way along with the live-action Star Girl and the animated Harley Quinn.
Doom Patrol follows the misfit group of superheroes that includes Cyborg, Robot-Man, Elasti-Woman, Crazy Jane and Negative Man who attempt to save their mentor The Chief from the nefarious villain Mr. Nobody. It stars Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Joivan Wade, Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser, and Alan Tudyk.
Young Justice is an animated series that follows a group of young superheroes which is a counterpart to the Justice League and includes Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss, Martian, Speedy, Supergirl, and more. It stars Stephanie Lemelin, Jesse McCartney, Danica McKellar, Nolan North, and Khary Payton.
