Coming as no surprise, CBS has renewed its Twilight Zone revival for a second season on its All Access streaming service. Variety reports that the first episode set a record for premiere day unique viewers for that streamer, and I would have puts odds on this one returning even without those numbers. This is a high-profile reboot just like Star Trek: Discovery, and I figured that it would get at least a couple of seasons to prove itself as is common among the streaming services. The revival series has been fairly well received so far, currently holding a 76% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and CBS is targeting this one as an Emmy contender. The show is currently streaming its first season, releasing one episode per week, and the second season should debut at some point in 2020.
The Twilight Zone is a reboot of Rod Serling’s classic anthology series that used a sci fi / horror / supernatural premise for its stories and usually delivered a twist at the end along with a moral. Guest stars in the new series have included Steven Yeun, Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, John Cho, and Seth Rogen. Jordan Peele has taken up the Rod Serling role as host for the new show and he is also the executive producer.
