Netflix has renewed its superhero series The Umbrella Academy for a second season according to ScreenRant.com and the streamer has also renewed its animated fantasy series The Dragon Prince as confirmed at Wonder Con this past weekend. The Umbrella Academy had its debut on the streaming service in February and has been well-received by fans and critics thus far. The first season ended on a major cliffhanger, but ScreenRant has a source that has confirmed the show will be returning for a second season to resolve that storyline. The Dragon Prince debuted on Netflix in September 2018 and has been well-received as well. Its second season bowed this past February and the announcement was made at WonderCon over the weekend that a third season is on the way, but there is no debut date at this point.
The Umbrella Academy focuses on a group of superheroes who come back together after the man that trained them to save the world dies, and they discover that must fend off an upcoming apocalypse. It stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Mary J. Blige and is based on the Dark Horse comic created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá.
The Dragon Prince follows two human princes and an elfin assassin who are attempting to save the last dragon egg in order to stop a war between humans and elves. It stars Jack DeSena, Sasha Rojen, Paula Burrows, Jason Simpson and comes from Avatar: The Last Airbender writer Aaron Ehasz.
