Sliding In: Former co-star of the 90’s series Sliders John Rhys-Davies has suggested that a revival/reboot of that fan-favorite show could be in the works. The actor says that he has had talks with series lead Jerry O’Connell who has been “pestering me for a number of years and we’re actually talking to NBC at the moment to see if there’s any possibility of rebooting the series”. They have not decided if this would be a complete reboot of if they would try to pick it up where it left off, but Rhys-Davies said he “would do it again, if just to show how it should be done”. The main stumbling block at this point is the ownership rights, but if they can maneuver through that then a new series could get a greenlight. All of this is very speculative and the rights issues often derail these sort of ideas, but if fans start pushing for it on the social networks that could help build up some momentum. The original series followed a group of people travelling across parallel Earths, each which has developed differently. It debuted on FOX in 1995 then shifted to Syfy for its final two seasons starting in 1998.
Angel Reunion: The former star of Joss Whedon’s Angel, a spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has hinted that a reunion for his series could be on the horizon. David Boreanaz had this to say when talking with The Wrap just recently:
I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away a lot. But I can say it’s 20 years coming up this fall, and we may have something in the works.
He did not go into anymore detail, only suggesting that a reunion was a possibility. Angel focused on a reluctant vampire played by Boreanaz who must deal with having a human soul. The character first appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer then moved to his own show starting in 1999. There is currently a reboot of Buffy in the works, but there is no indication that this reunion would be related to that.

Dreadful Return: Rory Kinnear has been cast in the upcoming Showtime series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. He starred in the original Penny Dreadful series as Frankenstein’s monster but will play the new role of Dr. Peter Craft in the continuation of this franchise. City of Angels will take place in 1938 Los Angeles and will focus on a horrible murder that shocks the people in that growing city. The producers are apparently taking a page from the American Horror Story playbook by casting previous actors in new roles. The new installment of the Penny Dreadful franchise will debut late 2019 or early 2020.
RIP Larry DiTillio: Frequent collaborator with J. Michael Straczynski and co-creator of She-Ra Larry DiTillio passed away this week at age 71. He got his start in animation and worked together with Straczynski on shows like He-Man, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, and The Real Ghostbusters. He also worked with JMS on the live-action 80’s sci fi series Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future and went on to be a writer and executive producer on Babylon 5. Straczynski put a post up on his Facebook page remembering the time that he spent working with his friend.
