Netflix has renewed its horror series The Haunting of Hill House and shortened its primary title to The Haunting as that one will now become a season-long anthology. The first season was based on the book of the same name by Shirley Jackson and debuted in Fall of 2018. The series was well received by fans and critics and allegedly had strong viewership as well (Netflix does not usually share its viewer numbers). The streaming service has elected to bring it back for a second year which will be titled The Haunting of Bly Manor. That will be based on the Henry James Gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw and will be targeting a 2020 debut.
The Haunting of Hill House focuses on a family recalling the horror of past events when they lived together in the haunted mansion known as Hill House. It stars Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and the series was created by Mike Flanagan and Tracy Macy.
