USA announced late last night that its paranormal drama Falling Water will not be returning for a third season. The news does not come as a big surprise because the show has never had very high viewership and its rating barely registered in its second season. During the shows first year, it only averaged a 0.15 rating based on same day viewing for the 18-49 demographic and it slipped to only a 0.09 average this year. I’ve had that one as a toss-up for renewal, though, because an Amazon streaming deal saved it last season. Apparently that is not enough to keep it going this year, though and USA has decided not to bring the show back. This should be a warning to Colony fans because that show’s numbers on USA are down this year as well. They are more in the range of Falling Water‘s first season, but definitely concerning. Fans of that show should make a Call to Action on the social nets to bring more attention to it.
Falling Water follows three people who share the same dreams and who come to realize their connection may be important to the future of the world. It stars David Ajala, Lizzie Brocheré, Will Yun Lee, and Kai Lennox.
In other news this week, TNT announced that its post-apocalyptic military drama The Last Ship will be ending after its fifth season. That news has been expected and the fifth year was produced upon the assumption that it would be the show’s last, so it should be able to wrap up most of the storylines. There are still a few more shows awaiting word on their fates including Colony. Keep an eye on the Cancellation Watch Tracker and the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site for breaking news and updates.
