Cancellation Watch: Channel Zero Returns Low for Its Third Season

Ratings Results of Interest: On Wednesday, Syfy’s season-long horror anthology Channel Zero had its third year debut (subtitled “Butcher’s Block”) but only managed a 0.09 rating based on same day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 378K total viewers which puts it at a series low. That show has received good buzz from the sci fi community and has already been renewed through a fourth season, but at these levels Syfy might waver on that. If they do go ahead with the fourth season, that will almost certainly be the show’s last unless it has a ratings turnaround. Over on TNT, The Librarians had a 0.27 rating with 1.4 million total viewers for its season finale. I like that show’s chances of coming back for a fifth season at this point. On FOX, The X-Files remained at a 0.9 rating with 3.7 million total viewers as it continues to look like that one is in its final season.

On Tuesday, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World slipped to a season low 0.5 rating with 2.3 million total viewers after two weeks of preemptions. Fans need to make a strong Call to Action for that one to get the word out, otherwise Kevin will probably end up getting cancelled. On Thursday, Freeform’s Beyond slipped to a 0.07 rating with 246K total viewers as that one continues to struggle in its second season. I still have it On the Bubble, but it could get shifted to Cancellation Likely soon, and fans should definitely take to the social networks to show support if they want it to stick around for a third year.
