Fans of the long-running Z-movie-riffing show Mystery Science Theater 3000 have reason to give thanks because at the end of this year’s Thanksgiving marathon series creator Joel Hodgson announced that Netflix will produce a second season of the revival. The first season came about by way of a Kickstarter campaign initiated by Hodgson and raised enough money to produce fourteen episodes. Once production began on that, Netflix came on board as the first run streaming venue for the show. It debuted in April of this year and has been well received, but there had been no word on a second season of the revival u. I wasn’t certain if another Kickstarter campaign would be needed for additional seasons, but it appears that Netflix will be footing the bill for the second year. There are no specifics at this point on when that second year will debut, but I would expect it to start streaming late in 2018.
The revival stars include Jonah Ray, Felicia Day, and Patton Oswalt. Among the movies riffed in the current season are The Beast of Hollow Mountain, Starcrash, and The Land That Time Forgot. The entire season is available for streaming on Netflix.
As the Fall season winds down, expect to hear more renewal and cancellation news. Be sure to stay tuned to this site and the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site for updates and breaking announcements.
