Coming as no surprise, NBC announced yesterday that its afterlife comedy The Good Place will be returning for a third season. While not a huge ratings hit, that show has performed well enough for a comedy on Thursday nights, especially considering the stiff competition. It has also been well received by critics throughout its first and second season. The Good Place is currently on hiatus while NBC is airing football on Thursdays, but will be returning on January 4th. It only has thirteen episodes in its second season, like its first, but it is a bit more expensive than the usual sitcom because it relies heavily on visual effects.
NBC currently has no other genre entries running this Fall as fans are still awaiting word on supernatural drama Midnight, Texas which ran in Summer and performed decent for that low-viewership time of year.
