Ratings Results of Interest: On Thursday, FOX’s sci fi comedy The Orville slipped to a 0.9 rating based on same day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 3.3 million total viewers (according to the preliminary numbers). But there is no need to be concerned about that one because it has already been renewed for a second season and it also tends to pick up slack from delayed viewing. Plus, those were the preliminaries which cold be could be impacted by football in the local markets and the show could adjust up when the finals come in.
On Wednesday, Spike’s The Shannara Chronicles improved to a 0.11 ratings average across its two episodes with 277K total viewers. That one has been more than doubling its numbers with delayed viewing, but I’m not sure that will be enough to help it as it appears to be in burn-off mode at this point. Over on USA, Mr. Robot saw a nice boost for the week as it improved to a 0.27 rating with 598K total viewers, its second best same day score for the current season. That Emmy-winning show looks like a good bet to continue to a fourth season.
On Tuesday, ABC’s Kevin (Probably) Saves the World held at a 0.7 rating with 2.4 million total viewers. But that one probably will not survive to a second season as I discuss in more detail at this link.
On Monday, FOX’s Lucifer held at a 1.0 rating with 3.6 million total viewers and that one is looking like it is on more solid ground now. The Gifted remained at a 1.0 rating with 3.0 million total viewers. That one has been seeing notable gains in delayed viewing and it is owned by FOX, so I like its chances for a second season which I discuss in more detail at this link.
