Cancellation Watch: Wynnona Earp May Have the Best Chance of Survival Among the Syfy Spring Shows, Plus the Ratings Roundup

Unless otherwise noted, the ratings numbers below are based on the final overnights and may vary slightly from the preliminaries reported on the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site.

Ratings Results of Interest: On Friday, Syfy’s Wynonna Earp held stead for the week at a 0.15 rating based on the overnights for the 18-49 demographic.  Despite its low numbers, it is currently the best performing among that network’s Spring entries and it is a relatively inexpensive show to produce.  I like its chances of getting an escape-the-Network-Executioner-free card better than Hunters at this point, though with all the development Syfy has in the pipeline, they may decide to just clean house.  On Saturday, Starz’s Outlander slipped to a 0.21 rating, its lowest numbers of the season.  But those are still acceptable for that network and I believe we will hear word on a renewal pretty soon.  On Sunday, Showtime’s Penny Dreadful barely registered on a highly competitive night, pulling a 0.2 rating vs. the 3.7 score for Game of Thrones and the 2.0 for Fear the Walking Dead.  It sure seems like that one would be doing better if it aired on a different night of the week.  As for FTWD, it slipped to its lowest numbers yet, but it is still blowing away almost all the other scripted programming on television not named Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, or Empire, so no need to worry too much about it.

Chart Activity: Game of Thrones moved back up in Weekly Nielsen Twitter Rating Top 10 to the Number 3 slot, and Supernatural made a surprise appearance on that chart at Number 6 with its big reveal episode last week.  Game of Thrones remained on the top of both cable ratings charts while Fear the Walking Dead took a bit of a tumble.  That was mostly due to competition from basketball, though.  As expected, Person of Interest made it into the broadcast net Top 25 based on total viewers for the week and it should remain there when this week’s numbers are tallied as well.
