Prime Time Sci Fi TV: Like It or Not, It’s Here . . . Sharknado Week

Yes indeed, this week brings the premiere of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!  But Syfy wanted to throw some chum on the schedule to get the feasting frenzy started and kicked off Sharknado week with several other dubious shark-infested critter-flicks.  On July 18th they premiered Roboshark and Mega Shark vs. Kolossus and on the 19th they give us Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf.  On Monday of this week is 3-Headed Shark Attack and Zombie Shark all leading up to Sharknado 3 on Wednesday.  And as a final cap-off to the week, they are delivering the less toothy but equally cheesy Lavalantula.  (Seriously, I’m not making any of this up, and I can hardly believe I am writing it.)  And in case you want to catch up on some of the finer plot points of the Sharknado films, the first one is airs on Tuesday and the second leads in to Number 3 on Wednesday.  Too bad the Emmy nominations have already been announced . . .

Apart from that, it is mostly business as usual this week, though there are some scheduling changes to mention.  Extant gets move up an hour to 9 PM on Wednesdays (giving it a better lead-in that repeats of Criminal Minds).  And Hannibal gets kicked to Saturdays starting this week.  Also, three shows have their finales this week: Wayward Pines (FOX), The Messengers (CW), and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (BBCA).
