Prime Time Sci Fi TV: Space-Based Sci Fi Returns to Syfy With Dark Matter, Plus the Season 3 Premieres of Defiance and Beauty and the Beast

Expectations are running high this week as Syfy’s Dark Matter debuts and that network returns to its Friday block of genre programming with Defiance leading the night and Killjoys (another space-based show) slotting into the middle hour starting next week.  Fans have been clamoring for a return of space opera on television and Syfy is doing just that with Dark Matter this week followed by Killjoys next week, so we will have to see how those register with the fans.  On Thursday, The CW’s Beauty and the Beast returns for its third season.  As for season finales, The CW’s iZombie  wraps up on Tuesday and HBO’s Game of Thrones ends its fifth season on Sundday.  Both have been renewed.  You can see the full schedule of the Summer shows at this link.
