Cable net TNT announced today that its freshman series The Librarians will be returning for a second season. This comes as no surprise because the show performed well for the cable channel across its ten episode run in December and January. It debuted to an impressive 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic based on the overnights (quite good for a basic cable channel), though it saw its numbers drop some over subsequent episodes. Still it remained in the Top 25 cable shows based on total viewers every week that it aired, so the renewal seemed pretty much assured. The full cast from the first season will return and ten episodes have been ordered for its second year. It will likely air in December/January timeframe again seeing as it performed relatively well during that typically low viewership time of year.
