The Charts: American Horror Story Falls Out of the Cable Top 25

FX’s American Horror Story has been experiencing its lowest ratings this year since its first season (and I have heard some grumbling amongst the fans about the current storyline), and for the first time that I can remember it dropped out of the cable Top 25 based on viewers for last week. It’s 2.9 million total viewers would have had it right on the cusp (it probably landed at about the Number 26 or 27 slot) but it didn’t quite make the cut for the Top 25. When this week’s numbers are tallied, it will probably return to the list as its numbers improved for its season finale, but it was MIA for last week’s measurements. The show slipped to Number 9 on the Nielsen Twitter Ratings Top 10 for the week as well (though it was at Number 2 on the General Sentiment charts). Not that FX is overly concerned, though, the anthology nature of the show means that it resets for its fifth season (it received its renewal notice back in Fall), so its numbers could improve at that point. Syfy’s 12 Monkeys managed to make it to Number 13 on the General Sentiment chart that measure social network activity for the cable channels, though it didn’t make it to the total viewers chart. Helix did not register on any of the charts for its Season 2 debut. Apart from that, it was mostly quiet as several shows were still on hiatus or in repeats. The CW shows had their mid-season debuts this week, though, so expect all six of that networks genre entries to return to the General Sentiment charts next week.
