Prime Time Sci Fi TV: 12 Monkeys TV Series Debuts on Syfy This Week, Plus the Returns of Helix, Grimm, and Constantine

New or notable science fiction and fantasy entries on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.

The second week of mid-season bring two more premieres as Syfy’s small screen adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys has its bow on Friday and that network’s Helix returns for its second season.  On NBC, Grimm and Constantine return from their winter hiatuses (making Friday a rather busy night) with the latter show moving to the early 8 PM EST timeslot.  I misunderstood the schedule change for that show and thought it was switching with Grimm (and maybe that was the original plan), but I’m not certain that the family friendly 8 PM hour is going to help this rather dark show too much.  This week also brings some unexpected repeats from FOX’s Gotham and Sleepy Hollow as the network apparently decided not to run new episodes against the college football national championship.  Both of those shows resume with new eps next week, though.  Also of note, TNT’s The Librarians will run back to back episodes on Sunday as the network seems determined to wrap that show up before AMC’s The Walking Dead returns from hiatus (on February 8th).  Apart from that, most of the other shows are still on hiatus, though all of The CW entries return next week.
