Prime Time Sci Fi TV: Two Big Debuts on Syfy This Week – The Much Anticipated Ascension and . . . Christmas Icetastrophe

Most of the Fall sci fi / fantasy shows have had their Fall finales and gone into hibernation for the Winter.  But this is when Syfy is bringing out its big guns and finally debuting the eagerly awaited space opera mini-series Ascension.  It will air across three nights starting Monday and if the network likes what it sees in the ratings then it could come back as an ongoing series.  Then there’s that other entry from Syfy that genre fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats for:  Christmas Icetastrophe.  Okay, maybe that network’s latest disaster cheese-fest hasn’t made it too high on anybody’s list, but here’s the description from TV Guide in case you are interested:

A meteorite brings with it ice and freezing temperatures, which threaten to harm the residents of a small town at Christmastime.

The shows with Fall finales this week are Once Upon A Time, Person of Interest, American Horror Story, and The 100.  Apparently Resurrection‘s Fall finale was last week, contrary to what I had previously seen reported by ABC.
