The Charts: Not Too Much Activity as the Summer Winds Down, Though Extant and Defiance Did See Some Improvements

With the Summer shows winding down and the Labor Day weekend preemptions (that holiday also caused this week’s ratings delays), the activity on the charts was somewhat sparse for last week.  Perennial social network entry Teen Wolf did not make an appearance for the week, but that was because it has a special airing on Sunday Aug 24th prior to the VMAs and it actually appeared twice in the charts last week.  For the cable Top 25 based on total viewers, there were no entries for the week because the two regulars True Blood and The Last Ship have both wrapped up their seasons.  The Falling Skies season final was right at the edge with its 2.4 million total viewers, but didn’t quite make it in for the week.  In the broadcast network Top 25, Extant actually improved its ranking slightly, even though its rating and total viewers remained flat.  And in the General Sentiment charts that track social network activity, Defiance jumped up for its season finale even though the ratings for that double episode wrap up were rather tepid.  In those charts, Doctor Who again ranked high for the week.
