Chart activity for sci fi / fantasy TV shows for the week of July 14th through 20th:
Last week, FX’s new vampire series The Strain debuted at the Number 21 slot on the cable charts based on total viewers. This week, though, that series dropped out of the Top 25 as it also saw its ratings and total viewers fall. Its still doing okay for now, and if its ratings don’t drop any further then it should be good for a second season renewal. Keep an eye on its numbers over the coming weeks, though. CBS series Under the Dome remained in the Top 10 for the broadcast networks last week as its numbers rose from the prior week. It held steady at the Number 6 slot based on ratings and improved to the Number 6 slot based on total viewers. Its ratings drop this past Monday, though, will see it fall when the charts are tallied next week. It should still be in the Top 15, but it is definitely under-performing this year compared to last Summer. The other CBS genre entry Extant remained on the charts, though its position slipped a bit. That show was at Number 14 based on ratings (down from Number 10) and Number 3 based on total viewers (down from its debut at Number 1). In the cable charts, The Last Ship held a steady course at the Number 6 slot based on total viewers, and True Blood improved to Number 13 (up from Number 18). On the Nielsen Twitter Ratings, Teen Wolf slipped to the Number 7 rung as that one has also seen its ratings decline the last few weeks. It should still be considered safe for now, though.
