Prime Time Sci Fi TV: The Strain Debuts on FX, Salem Has Its Season Finale

New or notable science fiction and fantasy entries on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans.

One more sci fi show joins the already crowded Summer Sunday lineup as new FX series The Strain–based on the trilogy of books written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan–has its debut.  WGN supernatural series Salem will have its season finale on the same night, so that will leave only six (!) genre entries running across the 9 PM to 11 PM hours on Sundays for the rest of the Summer.  On Saturday, Syfy is airing the zombie cheese-fest Battle of the Damned starring Dolph Lundgren.  It actually had a limited theatrical run earlier this year, but it fits right in with that network’s typical Saturday night lurid entries.  And for those interested, the second season of Netflix’s Hemlock Grove was made available for streaming beginning on July 11th, so fans of that show should get ready for some binge watching.
