Prime Time Sci Fi TV: Premieres for The Leftovers and Under the Dome, Season Finale for Penny Dreadful, Plus July 4th Marathons

New or notable science fiction and fantasy entries on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans.

Two more Summer shows kick of their seasons this week as HBO’s new entry The Leftovers has its bow and returning CBS series Under the Dome has its second season debut.  Showtime’s Penny Dreadful will be wrapping up on Sunday, and the holiday weekend will be bringing a Walking Dead marathon on AMC along with a Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon on BBC America, and Twilight Zone marathon on Syfy.  That latter one will not be airing in Prime Time on Friday, though, because they figured that people would rather tune into the former Sci Fi channel to watch wrestling rather than ONE OF GREATEST SCI FI SHOWS EVER!!!  So go figure.  On Saturday night, that network will air the third installment in the cheapie fantasy franchise In the Name of the King (titled appropriately enough In the Name of the King III).
