New or notable science fiction and fantasy entries on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans.
Starting this week on Tuesday, Star Trek alum Wil Wheaton brings his particular brand of nerdiness to Syfy in his sci fi talk show The Wil Wheaton Project. On Friday on NBC, pirate series Crossbones–staring John Malkovich as Black Beard–has its debut. Doesn’t look like it it will incorporate too many genre elements, but may still be of interest. For those still following NBC’s cancelled Believe, that one resumes its season on Sunday to burn off its remaining episodes. And movie of note for the week is The Crazies which will have its first airing on Syfy on Saturday. This is the 2010 remake of the 1970 George A. Romero quasi-zombie film. It’s not quite a classic (neither was the original), but it’s still a pretty decent film that flew mostly under the radar but which is worth checking out.
