The Charts: Believe Makes it to the Top 10 but Not for Long, Agents of SHIELD Returns

As I said last week, NBC’s late season entry Believe made it into the Top 25 based on the broadcast network overnight ratings in the 18-49 demographic for the week of March 10th through 16th as it landed at the Number 9 slot with its premiere fueled by a lead-in from The Voice. Unfortunately, that one will not repeat in the charts based on its first Sunday episode as its ratings dropped by 87% when it moved into its regular 9 PM EST timeslot. In that hour, it has to face off with new ABC entry Resurrection–which repeated in the Top 10 at the Number 7 slot–and cable ratings juggernaut The Walking Dead. Returning to the Top 25 for the first time since early February was ABC’s Agents of SHIELD as a Thor tie-in episode helped that show improve its sagging ratings to land at the Number 20 spot. Also in that chart was ABC’s Once Upon A Time at Number 15, giving that network three genre entries for the week in the Top 25. Dropping out of the that chart was Cosmos which just barely made it last week at the Number 25 spot. In the Top 25 based on broadcast net total viewers, Resurrection repeated at the Number 6 slot for a second week in a row. NBC’s Believe was also there at the Number 10 spot, but don’t look for that one next week. Dropping out was Person of Interest which ran a repeat for the week.
For the cable shows, The Walking Dead again repeated at the top with this past Sunday’s gut-wrenching episode and The Talking Dead came in at Number 2 as apparently a large number of viewers stuck around to hear the episode discussion. TWD slipped second place in the Nielsen Twitter rankings–losing out to The Bachelor–while Teen Wolf rose to the Number 4 slot from last weeks Number 6 place.
