Why Was It Cancelled? While never a top-rated show for CBS, the MacGyver reboot drew solid ratings across its run, especially for a Friday show. It continued to perform well in its fifth season and appeared to be on track for a sixth season renewal when CBS cancelled it. Almost certainly that is related to the current lawsuit over the profits from the show. MacGyver did have a pretty strong following and I expect they will make a Call to Action to get it at least a sixth and final season.
