Description: Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.  It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men…all play the ‘Game of Thrones.’  An original series based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series. Why Did It End? There is some question as to why this epic fantasy series ended when and how it did. It was getting quite expensive to produce, so there is a school of thought that HBO wanted to wrap things with the main series and move on to spin-offs and sequels. It has also been reported that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss wanted the show to end so that they could go on to other projects (and they did eventually sign a lucrative deal with Netflix). In either case, the ending was rushed and left fans rather disappointed. Still, this show accomplished a lot in its eight-season run and will be remembered as a genre great even if it did go out on a sour note.
