Why Did It End? This series, which was based on the manga and considered a direct sequel to the 1966 live-action show, performed well for a Netflix original but never counted as a breakout hit. It received a three-season run with its third announced in advance as its last which was pretty typical for streaming originals before the Peak TV Crunch started to take its toll on scripted programming. The original series produced multiple spin-offs and it is possible that some additional shows could follow from this one at some point in the future.
