Why Did It End? After two revival seasons, FOX has indicated that they have no plans for another season in the near future. Series co-lead Gillian Anderson claimed that she did not plan on returning to the show, and the ratings had dropped to barely passable levels by the end of the eleventh season, so all parties decided to give it a rest for now. Don’t be surprised if this one makes another return down the road, though, or if the network tries to do something like The X-Files: The Next Generation.
