Why Did It End? This series started out strong for MTV and had a very loyal following over its six year run. Its audience did start to slip in its later seasons and the creative team decided that its sixth year was the right time to wrap up the main storyline. However, the show concluded on an open-ended noted and the network has indicated that they have plans to possibly return to the same world with new characters and some returning cast members in an anthology-type series.
