Description: Based on a collection of short stories from Ken Liu about Uploaded Intelligence, or, human consciousness uploaded to the ‘Cloud’, Pantheon focuses on Maddie (Chang), a bullied teen who receives mysterious help from someone online. The stranger is soon revealed to be her recently deceased father, David (Kim), whose consciousness has been uploaded to the Cloud following an experimental destructive brain scan. David is the first of a new kind of being: an “Uploaded Intelligence” or “UI,” but he will not be the last, as a global conspiracy unfolds that threatens to trigger a new kind of world war. Why Was It Cancelled? This show had originally received a two-season order and the second season had been completed, but it was cancelled and pulled from streaming on AMC+ as a write-down amidst cost-cutting measures by AMC Networks (more on that at this link). It was being shopped around and the second season did show up on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand for a while (it appears to have since been removed). Netflix picked up the show and started streaming the first season in November 2024 and the second season is set to premiere on February 21, 2025. Whether that streamer will produce any more seasons remains to be seen.
