Season 7: When the Legends let time crumble in order to release and defeat Mallus, the barrier between worlds softened. History is now infected with “Fugitives” – magical creatures from myths, fairytales, and legends. Having been expelled throughout time by people like Constantine, these Fugitives are now returning to our world in droves and making a real mess of things.

Why Was It Cancelled? Legends of Tomorrow was typically one of the lower-rated Arrow-verse entries, but its numbers were up year-over-year in its final season (one of the few shows on television that could say that). It is one of the more expensive shows in the franchise, though, and with the pending sale of the network, apparently the current execs decided not to keep it going. Previously there was an unwritten rule at The CW that its longer-running shows would get a final season announcement in advance rather than outright cancelling them. But that did not hold up this time with new owners likely taking over, and the show got the ax. It did at least wrap up many of its storylines as the creative team apparently knew that cancellation was a possibility. Netflix currently has the streaming rights for prior seasons, so that would make it difficult for LoT to jump over to HBO Max (which is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery) for an eighth season and more. But it is still possible that the characters could continue on other Arrow-verse shows or that the franchise could make the move to HBO Max down the road.
