Why Was It Cancelled? This series had rough waters ahead of it going into its first season as ABC scheduled it in the difficult Thursday 8 PM EST timeslot where the network had struggled for some time. Last Resort’s arc-heavy, adult drama did not fit well in that hour and it also suffered from the perception that its premise was better fit for a limited-run series (it did have a story arc that would have kept it afloat, but that was not emphasized early on). Not surprisingly, the show sunk quickly in the ratings and ABC issued it a pretty swift cancellation. But that decision came soon enough that the series producers were able to revise the final episode and provide the show with some sense of resolution.
