Why Did It End? This series started out with okay ratings for a Syfy entry and was helped by the fact that the network partnered with the Space Channel up in Canada, sharing the cost of the production. Its numbers slipped in subesequent seasons, but Syfy’s parent company NBCUniversal had an ownership stake in the show and kept it going through a fifth season to give it time to wrap up its storylines.
