Why Was It Cancelled? This show debuted in 2017 to generally bad reviews from critics and fans alike, but Netflix went ahead and gave it the greenlight for a second season. When it returned, most agreed that the show had made the proper course correction and was much improved in its second year. But perhaps the damage was done in the first season and the just not enough viewers tuned in because Netflix and Marvel decided not to keep this one going as a stand alone show. They did indicate that the character could return, and he did share a long run with Luke Cage in the comics. So Iron Fist may show up on that character’s show or perhaps make a return on Disney’s upcoming streaming service at some point. There is currently a petition to bring back Iron Fist, and another petition was launched save the recently cancelled Luke Cage.
