Why Was It Cancelled? This series first premiered on CBS in the 2019-20 season and drew only moderate ratings. But the network decided to move it over to its streaming service Paramount+ which allowed it to continue for several more years. As the premiere for its fourth season approached, the cancellation was announced, but the show was given four extra episodes for the season to wrap up its storylines. Evil proved popular for Paramount+ and spent its fourth year in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings Top 10 (bolstered by encore runs of Seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix), and perhaps could have continued for several more years. But at four seasons and 50 episodes, it had a good run for a streaming original and it was given the chance to provide some resolution. Don’t be surprised if a revival pops up down the road, though.
