The Twilight Zone – “Time Element” This episode was written by Rod Serling as a pilot for an anthology series, though he had not come up with the Twilight Zone name at that point. CBS passed on it, but it eventually aired as an episode of Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse which generated high praise from audiences and critics alike. CBS then changed their minds and greenlit Serling’s anthology which would become TZ. This is rarely included with the reruns so it offers fans an opportunity to see the prototype episode that would eventually spawn the classic series.
Nightmares – This 1983 film was a pilot for another anthology show, but it was considered a bit much for the small screen so it ended up shifting to the big screen instead. Emilio Estevez, Lance Henriksen, and Veronica Cartwright all make appearances in the movie.
The Immortal – This is the pilot to the short-lived 1970 series of the same name starring Christopher George that centers around a man who finds his blood has special properties that make him immortal. He must go on the run, though, from those who want to use his blood for their own nefarious purposes.
Supercar – The pilot to Gerry Anderson’s classic Supermarionation series about a high-tech, flying car used for rescue missions and to fend off threats from supervillains like the diabolical Masterspy.
Space Angel – The pilot for the 1962 animated series from the same company that produced Clutch Cargo (and superimposed human lips over animated characters). Space Angel and his companions defend the solar system from alien threats. This episode was not included in the syndication run of the show and has rarely been seen.
