Updated with Moonbase 8 ratings
On Sunday, The CW’s Pandora scored another 0.0 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic. The ratings for the broadcast networks are rounded to a tenth of a point, but I am counting it as a 0.04 score for calculation purposes. Those are pretty low numbers even for the fifth-place network, but it is still possible that the show could stick around for another season to pad out the Summer schedule (it is currently only airing in Fall due to the COVID-related production delays).
Over on AMC, Fear the Walking Dead improved a bit to a 0.35 rating in the demo with 1.2 million total viewers as it still holds onto the chance of returning for a seventh season. The Walking Dead: World Beyond improved to a 0.21 rating with 726K total viewers. That one is set for a limited, two-season run. Showtime’s new sci fi comedy Moonbase 8 did not make it into the Top 150 for cable shows for its Sunday premiere, only posting a 0.01 rating with 90K total viewers. The fact that it has been scheduled at 11 PM outside of Prime Time suggests that the network does not have much faith in the show.
On Thursday, The CW’s Supernatural improved to a 0.3 rating with one million total viewers for its third-to-last episode. The Outpost held steady at a 0.1 rating with 438K total viewers. The Star Trek: Discovery encore run was preempted on Thursday for an election special, and neXt and Swamp Thing were preempted on Tuesday for election coverage.

Cancellation Announcement, Renewal Rumors
Hulu officially announced the cancellation of its season-long horror anthology Castle Rock last week. The assumption had been that the show would not return for a third season seeing as over a year has passed since its second season debuted. Increased production costs in the COVID environment were given as the reason for cancellation, and the show comes from Warner Bros. TV which has shifted most of its productions to HBO Max. You can read more about the cancelation at this link.
It appears that the upcoming live-action Loki series on Disney+ starring Tom Hiddleston is already set for a second season. LRM Online has noted that Production Weekly is showing January 2022 as the production start date for the show’s second year (the first season is expected to debut in the first half of 2021). That may just be a placeholder at this point, but at least it indicates that the streamer is looking at this as more than just a mini-series. Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy had already been rumored to be headed to a third season renewal, and that was made official today. More on that at this link.
Status Updates of Interest
For the status updates on all of the currently airing shows plus those awaiting word on their fate, go to this link.
Space Force (Netflix, 1st Season Ended, Status – On the Bubble): This show received some good buzz early on and it has a powerhouse of talent in front of and behind the cameras. It seemed like a sure thing for renewal at first, but there has still been no word on a second season and Netflix has been in cancelling mode lately. Currently, the future seems less clear for this one.
The Twilight Zone (CBSAA, 2nd Season Ended, Status – Renewal Possible): The critical response to this show has been decent across its first two seasons and it certainly comes at a much lower cost to CBS All Access than the Star Trek entries. I had thought that it had a decent chance of returning for a third season, but the planned reboot of the streaming service for 2021 may shake things up.
