Mystery Science Theater 3000 will not continue into a third season on Netflix according to a tweet yesterday from series host Jonah Ray:
So, Netflix decided to not do another season of MST3K. We are off to Get Down in Lilyhammer while the OA helps us take it One Day At A Time. We will be in group therapy with Tuca & Bertie, Jessica Jones, & Lady Dynamite. The sessions will be run by Gypsy (w/ Naomi Watts.) thread pic.twitter.com/ZONkUxUlFb

That series got its start on Comedy Central in the late 80’s and then moved to The Sci Fi Channel, becoming a staple on cable television in the 90’s. Series creator Joel Hodgson launched a Kickstarter back in 2015 which raised enough money to produce fourteen new episodes of the series. Netflix came onboard as the distributor and later renewed the show for a second season. But the streamer has since decided not to continue with the show. Whether Hodgson will shop the series around to other venues remains to be seen.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 offers riffs on bad movies from the past with the hosts providing voice-over dialogue and snarky comments. The reboot starred Jonah Ray, Hampton Yount, Baron Vaughn, Rebecca Hanson, Felicia Day, and Patton Oswalt.
There are still several more shows from the 2018-19 season that are awaiting word on their fate such as The Terror, Mars, and The Rook.
