Hulu’s Marvel superhero series Runaways will be ending with its upcoming third season. That show debuted in 2017 and has received some good buzz while also developing a loyal fanbase. But streaming shows do not seem to be built for long runs and three seasons has become the typical tenure for originals on these platforms. According to Deadline Hollywood, the series will not end on a cliffhanger and the show’s story arc will come to a “natural ending point” at the end of the third season. Marvel Television is currently going through a major shakeup with Kevin Feige recently announced as chief creative officer over all Marvel content, and his plan appears to be to get the television shows more in line with the movie universe. Cloak and Dagger was recently cancelled, Agents of SHIELD ends this season, and the Ghost Rider spin-off (which was linked to AoS) has been cancelled in production. Hulu does still plan to go forward with the live-action Helstrom series as well as the adult-animated shows that will include Howard the Duck, Tigra & Dazzler, and M.O.D.O.K.
Runaways follows a group of super-powered teenagers who discover that their parents are part of the evil organization known as Pride and who must go on the run to escape them and also to try and stop their nefarious plans. It stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, and Allegra Acosta and it is based on the comic book series created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona. The third season debuts on December 13th.
There are still several shows from the 2018-19 season that are awaiting word on their fate such as The Terror, Mars, and The Rook.
